Polly, OneLegal’s AI

AI for legal work, with every answer open to checking.

Polly answers questions, drafts and edits inside OneLegal. It works only on legal documents, shows where each answer comes from, and changes nothing until you say so.

What Polly does

Help where the work is

Polly is part of the tools you already use in OneLegal, not a separate chat window. Each feature below is marked with its name across the Product page.

  • Draft

Ask Polly to draft a clause

Describe a clause in your own words. Polly starts from your clause libraries and says which clauses it used, or that it found none. Nothing goes in until you insert it, as a tracked change.

  • Review

    Polly tasks across many contracts

Ask Polly for a due-diligence table, a playbook check of a whole set, or updated party names across many contracts. It shows a plan and a credit estimate first and starts only when you approve. Every answer cites the exact words.

  • Review

    Ask Polly about a contract

Ask a question on a contract’s page. Each part of the answer is tied to the exact words it rests on, and laws come only from OneLegal’s statute packs.

  • Negotiate

Ask Polly to edit and check

In the web editor, ask Polly to make a clause clearer, shorter, plainer, mutual or fairer to a party, or to check the document. Each suggestion sits beside the original and goes in, as a tracked change, only if you accept it.

  • Together

    Polly in OneChat

A chat of your own with Polly, and “ask Polly” in any conversation, where your company has switched Polly on.

  • Control

    Polly, switch by switch

Polly is off for a company until it is switched on, each Polly feature stands on its own, and OneLegal can stop Polly for everyone at once.

  • Control

Which AI models Polly may use

Choose the models Polly may use, and narrow the list further for a matter. Polly refuses rather than use a model that is not allowed. Each provider’s data terms are shown beside it, with a disclosure text and a log of Polly’s use per matter.

  • Control

Polly on your own AI account

Where your plan allows it, point Polly at your company’s own account with an AI provider. The key is write-only and sealed, and each provider’s data location is shown for you to accept first.

Built to be trusted

Six rules Polly always follows

AI in legal work has to be checked, so Polly is built to be checked.

Legal work only

Polly is for contracts, legal documents, laws and regulations. It refuses anything else, such as writing or fixing code, and tells the person so.

Every answer is cited

Each part of an answer is tied to the exact words it rests on. Laws come only from OneLegal’s statute packs for the contract’s legal system, never from memory, and figures that are not in the contract are marked.

You decide

A suggestion appears beside the original. It goes into the document, as a tracked change, only when you accept it. Nothing changes behind your back. Polly tasks show a plan and a credit estimate first, and start only when you approve.

Nothing kept, nothing trained

Your contracts, prompts and outputs are never used to train or fine-tune any model, and we only use AI providers that agree not to keep them. AI runs on Google Vertex AI in Belgium (EU): nothing is kept there and nothing is used for training.

Yours to switch off

Polly is off for a company until OneLegal switches it on, and each Polly feature can be switched on or off for your company. OneLegal can also stop Polly for everyone at once.

Safe with untrusted documents

Text inside a contract is treated as untrusted. Polly will not follow instructions hidden in a document to act outside it.

How it works

Ask, check, accept

  1. You ask, or you describe

Ask a question about a contract, describe a clause you need, or ask Polly to check or reword one.

  2. Polly answers with its sources

You get an answer tied to the words of the contract, the clauses of your libraries or the statute packs it used.

  3. You check, then you accept

Read the source beside the answer. Accept it and it goes in as a tracked change; leave it and nothing happens.

What Polly will not do

The limits are the point

  • Give legal advice. OneLegal is software, not a law firm, and you stay responsible for the work.
  • Help with anything that is not legal work, such as writing or fixing code.
  • Quote case law or statutes from memory. Laws come from OneLegal’s statute packs.
  • Learn from your documents. Nothing you give Polly trains any model.

Questions about Polly

More on security and data is on the Security page, and every question is on the Questions page.

What is Polly?

Polly is OneLegal’s AI, for legal work only: contracts, legal documents, laws and regulations. It refuses anything else, such as writing or fixing code, and tells you so.

How do I know an answer is right?

You can check it. Each part of an answer is tied to the exact words of the contract it rests on, and laws come only from OneLegal’s statute packs, never from memory. Figures that are not in the contract are marked. Polly can still be wrong, so a lawyer should read the source.

Does Polly change my contract by itself?

No. Every suggestion appears beside the original and goes into the document, as a tracked change, only when you accept it.

Can we switch Polly off?

Yes. Polly is off for a company until OneLegal switches it on, and each Polly feature can be switched on or off for your company. OneLegal can also stop Polly for everyone at once.

Is our data used to train Polly or kept by the AI provider?

No. Your contracts, prompts and outputs are never used to train or fine-tune any model, and we only use AI providers that agree not to keep them. AI runs on Google Vertex AI in Belgium (EU): nothing is kept there and nothing is used for training.

Can we use our own AI provider?

Yes, on the Business and Enterprise plans. An owner or admin can point Polly at the company’s own account with a provider it chooses, in place of OneLegal’s route. The key can be saved and removed but never read back, the provider’s data location is shown for you to accept first, and the same rules apply: legal work only, every answer tied to its source, and nothing changes in a document until you accept it. Your own provider’s terms then govern what it keeps.

Can Polly give legal advice?

No. OneLegal is software, not a law firm. Polly helps you read, draft and check, and you stay responsible for the work.
